

Activities
St. Peter’s is an active parish with a lot going on. The following are some of the groups and activities in the parish. If there is something you think is missing but which you would like to see in the parish, speak to the priest and we will see whether it is feasible to start it.
Spiritual Life
Groups which exist to support the spiritual life of parishioners.
Regular Services
In addition to the Sunday Mass schedule, there is daily Mass and a number of other services and devotions in the parish on an ongoing basis. See regular services page.
Ignatian Prayer Group
Meeting in the Oratory on alternate Tuesdays to explore prayer and meditation in the tradition of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuits.

Pilgrimages
Organised on an occasional basis – either day pilgrimages to local shrines or longer pilgrimages overseas.

Scripture Study & Prayer Group
Meeting in the Oratory on Monday evenings we take the readings from the Mass of the preceding Sunday as the basis for our reflection.

Youth Formation
To help our young people grow in the knowledge and love of God.
Sacramental Preparation
For preparation for First Communion, First Confession and Confirmation see the relevant pages. (Children are prepared for First Confession at the same time as First Communion.)
St. Philip Howard Infant School Governing Body
The local Catholic infant school is shared by St. Peter’s and Marychurch. The Governing Body works for and on behalf of the School. It is important that the parish supports and works with the School in every way possible.

Youth Group
Meeting every fortnight in term time, a wide range of activities are offered to those in Year 9 or above.

Faith Movement
The Faith Movement is a national organisation of priests and laypeople heavily involved in the youth apostolate. It offers regular talks, youth days and summer breaks. There are also Conferences and a magazine for an older age group helping us to make sense of our faith, especially in showing how faith and reason are fundamentally compatible.

Social Life
Groups which exist to promote the social life of the parish.
Coffee after 11 am Mass
Each week after the 11 am Mass there is tea and coffee in the Hall – a great way to catch up with old friends and make new ones. Help us always appreciated with the refreshments, setting up and clearing away.

Friends of St. Peter’s
This committee exists to organise regular social and fundraising activities for the parish, including the annual Garden Party. Ideas and contributions are always welcome.

Parish Support
Groups which exist primarily to offer practical support to the parish.
Church cleaning
We have six groups who take it in turn on a weekly basis to help clean the church work. New members are welcome to join an existing team or to start a new one.

Flower Arranging
We are fortunate to have a number of people who help make the church look beautiful through their flower arrangements. Again, this is organised by rota and we welcome new members. No previous experience necessary.

Parish Council
The Parish Council exists to assist the parish priest in all matters relating to the life of the parish. If you would like a matter raised at the Parish Council, please bring it to the attention of the parish priest. Minutes of the Parish Council meetings are posted on the notice board and a general meeting for the whole parish is held annually.
Repository
The Repository is at the back of church and is open after the Sunday Masses. We sell a wide selection of religious items including books, cards, statues, rosaries, pictures, missals and Bibles. Again, we welcome those who can give a short period of time to help staff the Repository after Mass. On the tables at the back of church you will find the most recent copies of the Catholic papers.

Welcome Ministry
We try to have parishioners at the back of church at the beginning of Mass to greet visitors and newcomers and make them feel welcome to St. Peter’s.

To offer spiritual and practical support to the local community and the wider Church.
Parish Visiting
The priest and parishioners are happy to visit and bring Holy Communion to the sick and housebound of the parish.

APF Mission Boxes
Many parishioners have these red boxes in their homes to collect for the work of the missions.

Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP)
The SVP is an international Catholic organisation providing practical assistance to anyone in need. St Peter's shares a branch of the SVP with the neighbouring parish of Marychurch.
