We have been served by a number of priests since the parish was created in 1959. We give thanks to God for their ministry and hard work. In addition, we recall with gratitude the huge contribution to the life of the Church locally made by the Sisters of Mercy (who founded and for many years ran St. Philip Howard School) and the St. John of God priests and brothers who have cared for so many with special needs.
There have been other priests who have helped out in the parish over the years, but our parish priests have been :
Fr. John Milne |
1959-76 |
Fr. Michael Giffney |
1976-87 |
Fr. Joe Ryan |
1987-91 |
Canon Oliver Kelly |
1991 |
Fr. Kevin McDevitt |
1991-97 |
Fr. Anthony Scurlock |
1997-98 |
Fr. John Boland |
1998-2007 |
Fr. Mark Vickers |
2007- |

Fr. Mark Vickers, the present parish priest, was appointed to St. Peter’s in March 2007. Born and brought up in Lincolnshire, Fr. Mark studied History at Durham University and Law at the College of Law in Chester. He practised as a solicitor for seven years with one of the City Law firms and during that time was received into the Catholic Church. He was sent by Cardinal Hume to study Philosophy and Theology at the English College and the Gregorian University in Rome. He was ordained priest by Cardinal Murphy-O’Connor and served in Kingsbury, Ruislip and Burnt Oak before coming to St. Peter’s.
With the help of everyone in the parish and building on the work of his predecessors, Fr. Mark hopes to build up the spiritual life of the parish and our formation in the faith. He has experience of various aspects of youth work and, in addition to being parish priest, is also Chaplain to the University of Hertfordshire.
